Macugnaga and Anzasca Valley

Macugnaga, overlooked by the East side of Monte Rosa, is set at the bottom of the Anzasca Valley, in the North-West of Piedmont region. Village rich in history and traditions, Macugnaga originates from a Walser settlement of the XIII century.

Completely merged in nature, surrounded by the Monte Rosa chain, Macugnaga makes a difference because of its’ simple style but mainly because it has kept its characteristic architecture which can be recognised by the houses built in wood and stones, the ancient stone ovens to cook bread and the narrow roads of the village. Macugnaga is rich from many points of view: historical, artistic and naturalistic.

In all the hamlets of Macugnaga you can observe the typical Walser houses, chapels and worship sites or visit the Museums dedicated to the mountain and the Walser culture.

Sport’s lover may find interest in numerous activities both in winter than in summer thanks to two ski sites and many trekking tracks with different levels of difficulty. Not to forget the classic sport activities such as tennis, horse riding, soccer and  entertainment with a rich schedule of concerts, shows and evening events.
